Purpose Source Association

This policy explains how to get your money back for a Purpose Source purchase, and what a refund means for your coverage. “We” are the Purpose Source Association (see the imprint).

Each purchase gives your organisation a credential: a public record in our registry that your organisation is covered for the software it chose, for one year (its term). Parts of that software that are public by the end of a paid term stay yours to keep for good, even after the term ends. The licence (§9) calls this vesting.

1. Who sells to you

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

Purchases are sold through Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd; Paddle.com Inc. for buyers in the United States; Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. for buyers in Canada), our merchant of record. Paddle is the seller to you: it issues your invoice, processes card payments and handles sales tax and VAT. Your card and bank details go to Paddle and never reach us.

2. Our 14-day money-back guarantee

Ask within 14 days of your payment, for any reason, and you get a full refund. No questions asked.

This applies to every payment: your first purchase and each yearly renewal. For a purchase paid by invoice, the 14 days count from the day your payment reaches Paddle.

Paddle makes every refund and pays it back to you. Paddle’s refund policy and the Paddle Buyer Terms also apply to your purchase, and so do the consumer laws of your country. Where any of them gives you more, you get the more generous right.

3. How to ask for a refund

Ask Paddle at paddle.net (“Request refund”), or use the support link in your Paddle receipt. You can also write to billing@purposesource.org, say which purchase it is, and we ask Paddle to refund you. The day you ask is what counts. We aim to answer within 5 business days. Other ways to reach us are on the contact page.

4. What a refund means for your credential

  • When the payment for your current year is refunded in full, your credential ends from the refund onwards, as Paddle’s refund policy also provides (§1.6), and the public registry records that it ended. What your earlier paid years let you keep stays yours.
  • A year refunded in full gives you no part of the software to keep; a partial refund, or a refund for our own failure, takes nothing away. Your use of the software during that year, before the refund, stays lawful.
  • The Entitlement terms (sections 6 and 7) and the licence (§9) set out in full what a refund or a chargeback changes.

5. Renewals

Purchases renew automatically each year unless you turn renewal off. A card purchase renews through Paddle. An invoiced purchase renews through a yearly Paddle invoice, on the same terms as the first (Entitlement terms, sections 5 and 6).

You can turn renewal off at any time before the renewal date, through Paddle at paddle.net or by writing to billing@purposesource.org. Each renewal reminder tells you the renewal date, the price then in force and how to turn renewal off. A price rise reaches your renewal only after at least 90 days’ notice. Each renewal payment has its own 14-day money-back guarantee (section 2).

6. Chargebacks

If something is wrong with a payment, please contact Paddle at paddle.net or write to us before you ask your bank to reverse it (a chargeback). What a chargeback means for your coverage is in the Entitlement terms (section 6).
