# Purpose Source — brand assets

You are welcome to use the official artwork under the [publicity and brand-use permission](/brand).
No prior approval is needed. You may describe your participation in your own words and link to
our website and official social profiles. The inventory below explains which artwork to use.

Received from the operator on 2026-09-11 (six raster renders), cleaned to transparent PNG the
same day. These are the movement's marks; nothing in this folder is a certificate, badge or
company logo (those are LEG-094's, not this folder's).

## The files and what each stands for

Second set, received 2026-09-11 afternoon and routed the same evening; it **replaces** the morning's
two-hands set entirely (no file of the first set remains — every icon and header image is derived
from this one).

| File | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| `purpose-source-mark.png` (1024×1024, transparent) | The symbol alone: **one open hand, palm up, inside a pair of code chevrons** — navy chevron and hand on the left, green chevron on the right. | Avatars and app icons: the GitHub organisation, the GitHub App `purpose-source`, the OAuth App, Sentry, Better Stack, the dashboard. Every favicon and touch icon here and in `platform/apps/app` is derived from it. |
| `purpose-source-mark-alt.png` | The same symbol, the render with the hand set a little higher and thinner chevrons. | Kept as the alternate; not used anywhere by default. |
| `purpose-source-logo-horizontal.png` | Mark on the left, the wordmark "Purpose Source" on the right, no tagline. | Page headers (the site header uses its 96 px export), e-mail signatures, documents, slides — wherever there is width. |
| `purpose-source-logo-horizontal-alt.png` | The same lockup, the render with a slightly larger mark. | Alternate; not used by default. |
| `purpose-source-logo-horizontal-dark.png` | The horizontal lockup with the wordmark in the site's dark-mode ink (`#ece8dc`); the green is unchanged. Derived from the light file by recolouring the navy pixels. | Dark grounds only: the site header in dark mode (`/brand/logo-horizontal-96-dark.png` is its 96 px export), dark slides, dark social cards. |
| `purpose-source-logo-stacked.png` | Mark above the wordmark on one line, no tagline. | Square-ish placements: social cards, print, the press kit's cover. |
| `purpose-source-logo-stacked-two-line.png` | Mark above the wordmark set on two lines ("Purpose" / "Source"), no tagline. | Narrow placements: app icons with text, badges, tall banners. |
| `purpose-source-logo-horizontal-tagline.png` | The horizontal lockup with the line "Better software · A brighter tomorrow". | Brand pages and the press kit (D38, 2026-09-11) — never the site header. |
| `purpose-source-logo-stacked-tagline.png` | The stacked lockup with the same line. | Same as above. |

How to tell the plain and tagline renders apart when a new set arrives: the tagline one has the
taller content box for the same width. The first routing of the morning set got this backwards for a
quarter of an hour; measure, do not assume.

Derived, and regenerated from `purpose-source-mark.png` whenever it changes:
`/favicon.svg` (an SVG wrapper around a 128 px raster — there is no vector master yet),
`/favicon.ico` (16/32/48), `/favicon-32.png`, `/apple-touch-icon.png` (180 px, white ground:
iOS drops transparency), `/icon-192.png`, `/icon-512.png`; `/brand/mark-64.png` and its dark twin
for the footer; `/brand/logo-horizontal-96.png` and its dark twin for the header. The same set lives
in `platform/apps/app/public/` for the dashboard, plus `brand/purpose-source-mark.png` (512 px) and
`brand/purpose-source-logo-horizontal.png` for the shell.

## Colours, as measured from the renders

| Name | Hex (measured median) | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose navy | `#0d3a5f` | left chevron, left hand, the wordmark |
| Source green | `#0ca87c` | right chevron, right hand, the tagline's dot |

They are measurements of a raster, not a declared palette. The declared palette is the vector
master's job (below); until then use these two values and nothing derived from them.

## Rules that already bind these files

- **Tagline.** "Better software · A brighter tomorrow" is the approved **lockup tagline** since D38 (2026-09-11): brand pages and the press kit may carry the two `-tagline` files; the site header and the dashboard stay tagline-free; the philosophy line "Open Code. With Purpose." and the thesis remain the site's copy lines (MKT-009).
- **Naming.** None of the files carries the predecessor movement's two-word name (D25 / NEV-015), and none may be renamed to it.
- **Sponsorship character.** Displaying *other* organisations' logos (recipients, adopters,
supporters) is LEG-094's counsel-gated question; this folder is only ever the movement's own mark.

## What is still owed

1. **A vector master (SVG)** of the mark and both lockups, drawn from these renders. The renders
are AI-generated rasters with a paper texture; the cleanup (white-to-alpha, crop, 4 % padding)
is good enough for screens, not for print or for a 16 px favicon drawn by hand. When the SVG
lands, `favicon.svg` becomes that file and every PNG here is re-exported from it.
2. **Clear-space and minimum-size rules**, written once the vector exists.
3. **The press-kit entry** (URS WEB-135) giving these files the naming vocabulary — a
launch-day item, and the half that is still owed. The inventory itself is no longer
owed: `/press` lists every file below its own render, with what each one is for, and is
where a reader is sent. Add a file here and it belongs in that list too.

These files are the Association's marks. Their use is permitted by the [publicity and brand-use policy](/brand),
separately from the code licences of this repository.
